About the World overflight risk conference

Launched in 2024 as the WORC2024 event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the MH17 tragedy, the event was established to address the critical issue of overflight risk. For the first time, regulators, operators, and insurers joined forces to confront the dangers posed by conflict zones. Their goal was to collaboratively reshape the industry’s approach to managing threats in airspace.

The World Overflight Risk Conference (WORC) is a vital platform dedicated to enhancing the management of overflight risks through global collaboration, targeted education, and innovative solutions. Its primary mission is to enhance aviation safety by providing stakeholders—such as airlines, regulatory bodies, and safety organisations—with critical tools, comprehensive insights, and collaborative strategies designed to reduce the risks associated with overflights.

WORC aims to break down existing barriers within the industry by bringing together a diverse group of international speakers, expert panels, and participants from various sectors. The conference is designed to promote a culture of shared knowledge and proactive solutions, encouraging collective action among attendees. Furthermore, WORC is dedicated to honouring the memory of victims of tragic incidents such as MH17, PS752, and AZAL 8243 by advocating for meaningful changes in the aviation industry that prioritise safety and resilience in our skies.
