The Next Frontier in Overflight Risk Management

In today’s complex and rapidly evolving aviation landscape, managing overflight risk is no longer just about avoiding danger; it’s about proactively shaping a safer, more informed future for global aviation. From geopolitical tensions to technological change, airlines, regulators, and insurers face challenges that demand collective intelligence, shared data, and decisive action.

At the forefront of this movement is the World Overflight Risk Conference (WORC™), where global aviation leaders come together to collaborate, innovate, and take tangible steps toward safer skies.

A Hub for Action and Collaboration

WORC™ is not a typical conference. It is a purposeful forum that unites airlines, regulators, insurers, and technology partners to tackle overflight risk together. By breaking down traditional silos, WORC™ fosters cross-sector collaboration, enabling participants to translate insight into practical solutions that directly enhance operational safety.

The upcoming WORC™ 2026 Conference, 20–22 April in St. Julian’s, Malta, will build on this mission, delivering actionable intelligence, forward-looking strategies, and collaborative tools to navigate emerging threats. It’s where global aviation leaders gather to shape the future of overflight risk, together.

Overflight risk management is ultimately about people, lives, and the integrity of global airspace. WORC™ reminds the industry of the lessons from past tragedies and drives mission-focused solutions that improve safety, resilience, and operational foresight.

The conference is a platform for collective progress: informed by global perspectives, grounded in operational reality, and committed to a safer, more predictive future. Shaping the future of overflight risk—together.

Be part of the conversation that’s changing aviation risk. Explore practical tools, gain actionable insights, and collaborate with global leaders dedicated to safer skies. From insight to impact: WORC™ is where aviation comes together to take action.

Learning from WORC™ 2024

The inaugural WORC™ 2024, held in Warsaw, demonstrated the power of uniting the aviation ecosystem. Supported by EASA and the University of Southampton, the conference brought regulators, operators, and insurers into a shared space of dialogue and action.

Attendees explored practical tools, innovative risk models, and intelligence-sharing frameworks, gaining strategies that move beyond reactive planning to predictive, proactive risk management. Grounded in the lessons learned from the downing of MH17 and PS752 – tragic reminders of the consequences of insufficient overflight risk assessment – the conference reinforced that every decision in overflight risk management carries profound, real-world safety implications.

Navigating the Evolving Risk Landscape

Overflight risk today is shaped by intersecting forces:

  • Geopolitical volatility: Sudden airspace closures and conflict zones require real-time intelligence and agile decision-making
  • Technological evolution: From drones to AI-driven analytics, technology provides both opportunities and new complexities.
  • Cyber and security challenges: Integrated digital systems demand risk frameworks that bridge physical and cyber threats.
  • Data-driven insight: Operationally relevant data enables predictive decision-making and safer flight planning

Traditional, siloed approaches are no longer sufficient. Collective action, cross-sector collaboration, and future-focused innovation are now essential for a resilient aviation ecosystem.

WORC™ 2026: From Insight to Impact

The 2026 conference is designed to turn insight into action

  • Global perspectives: Hear from regulators, airlines, insurers, and security experts on emerging risks.
  • Interactive workshops: Translate strategic knowledge into real-world operational improvements.
  • Innovation showcases: Explore the next generation of predictive analytics and intelligence tools.
  • Network building: Forge partnerships that strengthen global risk management and safety.

Every session, every discussion, and every collaboration is framed around creating tangible outcomes and measurable improvements. This is where the aviation community moves from reactive to proactive, starting now
